JOB DESCRIPTION

This internship opportunity will provide professional training and mentorship, preparing the candidate for long-term employment in event management or nonprofit leadership, encouraging retention of skilled workers in the region. The position emphasizes transferable skills such as stakeholder engagement, project management, marketing, and volunteer coordination, ensuring that the intern is well-prepared for various roles in Northern Ontario’s workforce

Responsibilities
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of special events, including fundraising galas, peer-to-peer campaigns, and community engagement activities.
  • Venue and Logistics Management: Coordinate venue arrangements, including setup and teardown of displays, sound systems, and event materials, ensuring smooth execution of event logistics.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist teams and individuals participating in peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives by providing support with pledge forms, online fundraising platforms, and campaign communications.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers, ensuring they are prepared to fulfill their roles effectively and contribute to successful event outcomes.
  • Community Engagement: Foster relationships with stakeholders, including sponsors, donors, and community partners, to enhance event participation and overall impact.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Develop promotional materials and support social media campaigns to increase event awareness and engagement.
  • Data Management, Financial Tracking and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of event participants, donors and sponsors. Track event expenses, process invoices, and prepare financial summaries for review by the leadership team.
  • On-Site Event Support: Provide hands-on assistance during events, addressing participant inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the program stays on schedule.
