Description

Qualifications: Two years of related experience in event planning, fundraising, public relations, or marketing preferred. Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail. Intermediate knowledge of Word and Outlook. Regional and local travel as needed. Valid New York State driver’s license. Experience with development software including Raiser’s Edge, Monday.com and Go Fund Me Pro preferred.
Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending, listening, talking and/or visual concentration, writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 30 pounds.
Position Summary: Responsible for assisting in coordinating fundraising, special events, and community outreach activities. Assists in identifying potential volunteers, sources of funding, and in-kind contributions. Helps manager with other fundraising and public relations tasks as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing special events including:
  • Assists in creating new special events or modifying existing events to meet fundraising needs of Food Bank.
  • Takes all necessary steps to ensure the success of each special event including addressing and resolving day-to-day issues as they arise.
  • Working directly with event committee members to assist in obtaining sponsorships and auction donations.
  • Helps identifying and training committee members for special events.
  • Assists in recruiting and training volunteers for events as needed.
  • Pursuing in-kind support for events to maximize net proceeds.
  • Helps to monitor and control event expenses.
  • Helps coordinate publicity of events.
  • Evaluating events and preparing reports summarizing event activities and provide feedback for future events.Working with outside organizations interested in hosting events to benefit the Food Bank.

    • Helps solicit funding, in-kind support, and volunteers from business and community groups on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists in coordinating, planning, and implementing public relations activities including:
  • Speaking to community groups about the Food Bank.
  • Providing tours to visitors.
  • Assisting with other public relations activities as needed.
  • Assists the Director with the accurate and timely processing of donations and acknowledgments.
  • Assists with the cultivation of current and potential donors.
  • Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
  • Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Works independently, and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
  • Adheres to the Food Bank’s Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
