Job Title: Special Procedures/Neuro Interventional Radiology Technologist Unit: Interventional Radiology Shift: Days-9 hour shifts Facility: MVH *Sign-on Bonus Eligible Independently performs diagnostic and therapeutic Neuro Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the IR department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities. Essential Duties & Functions: 1. Performs Neuro IR procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols. 2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the IR procedure. 3. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed IR policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required. 4. Prepares and administers contrast media by injection to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques. 5. Assists Radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. 6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction 7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam. 8. Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure. 9. Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit. 10. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures. Education: Education Required: Associate degree Additional requirements: Type of degree: Allied Health-Associate's Degree Area of study or major: Radiologic Technology Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR Certification required ACLS preferred ARRT RT (R) registry required Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) registry preferred ODH licensure required Experience: Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience Prior job title or occupational experience: Radiologic Technologist Preferred experience: Progressive IR experience Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge/Skills: Human anatomy Proficient in Neuro Interventional Procedures Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage Knowledge of advanced IR computer applications Radiation
