Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POST:

The Specialist Advanced Data Analytics & Development will provide expertise in analysing large and complex data sets for strategic analysis. The incumbent will play a crucial role in identifying crime patterns, forecasting trends, and supporting strategic intelligence reporting and will leverage data to deliver insights into how crime and terrorism are developing. This will allow Europol to anticipate threats and trends and develop a better early warning mechanisms.

2. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

The incumbent carries out the following main functions and duties:

  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify crime patterns, trends, and emerging threats;
  • Develop models and forecasting techniques to support proactive decision-making;
  • Utilise machine learning and statistical methods to enhance crime analysis and strategic intelligence reporting;
  • Provide strategic insights through data visualisation and comprehensive reports;
  • Maintain and improve data quality, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability of intelligence reporting;
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in data analytics, data science, AI and criminal intelligence analysis methodologies to continuously improve strategic analysis capabilities;
  • Work with structured and unstructured data sources, integrating multiple data streams for a holistic analysis approach;
  • Develop and implement automated tools to streamline data collection, processing, and reporting;
  • Perform any other duties in the area of competence as assigned by the line management.
