Description

Detailed job description and person specification are attached within the job advert . The role involves: Participation in an extended week shift rota including weekend and extended working day Maintaining an up to date knowledge base of methods in use within Cellular Pathology, specifically cytology and to be aware of scientific and technological advances within the field. To support the senior cytology team in the provision and development of a fit for purpose Cytology service. Participate in delivering a quality diagnostic cytology service including primary screening slides, auditing personal performance periodically and initiating review where necessary.
Participate in non-gynaecological external quality assessment (EQA) schemes. Attendance at Rapid On-site Examination/Evaluation (ROSE) clinic procedures to assist with sample preparation and indication of presence/absence of cellular material for adequacy. Recognise potential problems with sample and quality control results through result patterns and take appropriate corrective action. Ensure all records, evaluations and data are recorded and maintained in compliance with standards set by UKAS
