General Description:
The mandate of the Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health is to foster the advancement of a national health research agenda to improve and promote the health of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada through research, knowledge translation and capacity building. The Institute’s pursuit of research excellence is enhanced by respect for community research priorities and Indigenous knowledges, values and cultures.
The IIPH Specialist, Communication and Events will develop and implement a communications strategy that will foster and enable knowledge mobilization of IIPH initiatives and Indigenous health research supported by CIHR and promote and support planning and implementation of IIPH events.
Responsible for all aspects of developing, implementing and evaluating an event/program experience and communication plan to support the success of the event/program. Works in close collaboration with the event/program manager as well as internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for large- scale events and stakeholder involvement.

The Specialist, Communications and Events will have knowledge of and experience with Indigenous communities, organizations, and the distinctions between and among Indigenous groups in Canada. Potential candidates will preferably identify as Indigenous and have a solid understanding of the Indigenous research landscape in Canada and have a proven track record of working well with Indigenous peoples.
