ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a client-facing specialist consultant with significant experience working on engineering design frameworks on nuclear licensed sites. The project work involves developing relationships with facility managers and project managers, developing material management plans, supporting environmental permitting work, creating construction environmental management plans, commissioning effluent management strategy, designing environmental monitoring, and supporting facility safety case upgrades. You will play a key role in developing relationships with project managers, technical experts, and framework managers. You are expected to develop business and deliver projects by leading the creation and implementation of safe site procedures and methodologies that assess and mitigate risks associated with the nuclear waste management and infrastructure work.
We want to hear from you if you have background in the development of best available techniques in areas of water quality discharge permitting, BAT assessments and optioneering, designing water and effluent treatment plants and writing environmental statements.
This role can be based in Cumbria, Birchwood or Hawell.

• Leadership: Lead, manage, and deliver facility decommissioning, environmental permit applications, material management, bulk excavation, site investigations, nuclear waste management and impact assessment projects.
• Policy: Develop best available techniques for environmental assessments, construction waste management, fuel storage that consider climate resilience, emissions, noise, biodiversity, water discharges, and heritage.
• Management: Engage, manage and deliver for client project managers, technical specialists, supply chain consultants and regulatory bodies to communicate impacts, mitigation strategies, and the outcomes of the assessment process.
• Projects: Evaluate project risks and opportunities related to design, permitting, offering insights to the business and project stakeholders.
• Strategy: Lead the business strategy development by responding to changes in legislation and policies.
• Workshops : Facilitate and lead technical and non-technical meetings, including public consultations and client workshops.
