Permanent, Full-Time, On Site
As a Corporate Safety Specialist, you’ll play a crucial role in promoting public and employee health and safety while mitigating corporate risks associated with our operational and capital programs. This role will support our Fire, 911 and Electric Generation departments. Collaborating closely with departments, you’ll develop, implement, and evaluate safety management systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience with HealthSafety and Emergency Management systems.
  • Knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with a clean record.
  • Auditor certification and experience in the electrical/gas industry are assets.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support safety and community objectives.
  • Lead investigations, audits, and inspections, promoting a culture of safety and improvement.
  • Support emergency management efforts, including roles within the Incident Command System.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and business continuity strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on Corporate Safety and operational risk management.
  • Design and manage safety training and competency programs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation.
  • Oversee health and safety programs, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Report on safety performance and incident outcomes.
