Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POST:

The Specialist will support investigations and gather intelligence within the CT domain, with a focus on complex and evolving security challenges that involve coordinated activities across multiple domains, including cyber, information, economic and conventional sectors.
The Specialist will play a central role in tackling the convergence between terrorism, serious and organised crime and multidimensional security threats and will contribute to operational planning and execution, strategic assessments and intelligence development, ensuring a coordinated defence against potential terrorist activities targeting the EU.
The role demands collaboration with international law enforcement and intelligence communities, report writing, research and the provision of actionable intelligence to prevent, detect and respond to terrorism.

2. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

The incumbent carries out the following main functions and duties:

  • Lead and contribute to the detection and disruption of cross-cutting security threats within the scope of AP Dolphin;
  • Provide operational products and support on incidents and cases involving complex and evolving security challenges and threats, and overlaps between CT and high-risk serious and organised crime;
  • Engage in operational planning and field coordination, including deployments, real-time intelligence sharing and data exploitation. This may include presence in conflict zones;
  • Ensure secure handling and dissemination of classified and highly sensitive information in coordination with partner agencies;
  • Anticipate and identify emerging trends and build an intelligence picture in order to support strategic and operational decisions;
  • Maintain availability and responsiveness to support ongoing or escalated operations and incidents;
  • Serve in high-impact operations and initiatives focused on prevention and early detection of emerging threats;
  • Represent the Unit in internal and external meetings, engaging with a range of different stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, international organisations and the private sector;
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on subjects related to CT;
  • Participate in stand-by duty if and when required;
  • Perform any other duties in the area of competence as assigned by the line management.
