SPECIALIST, DIVISION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION (CHARTER)
38G (School Support Administrator, 0515)
Under the direction of the Division of Special Education administrator or their designee, the specialist will provide technical assistance to LAUSD SELPA charter schools to support the delivery of special education services in the least restrictive environment. The specialist will assist with IEP implementation, compliance, data use, and professional development to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least five (5) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than three (3) years in a position(s) working with students with disabilities in a certificated capacity
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- A valid California Special Education Teaching Credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, that included student teaching
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*
- Applicants have one year to complete this requirement.

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commitment to ensuring equity and access for students with disabilities and their families
- A keen interest in and experience implementing innovative programs and developing alternative learning environments
- Knowledge and experience in state and federal special education legal requirements, District special education policies and procedures, and the substantial compliance requirements
- Classroom experience modifying and scaffolding instruction and curriculum and experience using data to design and implement instructional and behavioral plans for individual students and groups of students
- Successful experience presenting to large and small groups and facilitating consensus development among individuals within a group
- Experience using the Welligent Integrated System, in particular, the IEP, service tracking, and reports
- Experience using Welligent, MiSiS, and other District data systems.
- Ability to travel to sites throughout the District
