Specialist Educational Assistant – High Needs Support About the Position
The Stoney Education Authority is hiring a Specialist Educational Assistant – High Needs Support to provide individualized, trauma-informed support to students with exceptional behavioural, medical, or developmental needs. The successful candidate will help create safe, inclusive classrooms rooted in Stoney Nakoda language, culture, and values.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Experience supporting students with high needs (behavioural, medical, developmental, trauma-related).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to cultural humility and willingness to learn Stoney Nakoda traditions

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for high-needs students.
  • Assist with behaviour regulation, communication, sensory, and medical needs.
  • Implement Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) and Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Support personal care (feeding, toileting, mobility) with dignity.
  • Collaborate with teachers, Student Success Teachers, and families.
  • Participate in outdoor, land-based, and cultural learning activities.
  • Ensure safety, structure, and calm classroom environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Experience supporting students with high needs (behavioural, medical, developmental, trauma-related).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to cultural humility and willingness to learn Stoney Nakoda traditions.

Assets

  • Post-secondary training in Education Assistant, Child & Youth Care, or Social Work.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent training.
