About our team/Mō te tīma The Events team is a team within Marketing Services. We provide event management services and give professional events advice and support to academic departments, service divisions and departments across all three of the University’s main campuses. As part of Marketing Services, we play an integral role in recruiting students via engaging and innovative on-campus events and raising the profile of the University both nationally and internationally. The role/Te mahi As an Events Specialist, you will manage the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of local, national, and international events, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and to a consistently high standard. You will work closely with academic leaders, professional staff, Marketing and Communications teams, and external suppliers to translate objectives into well-planned, engaging events that reflect the University’s brand and values. Your day may include: • Delivering end-to-end planning and operational management of complex events. • Developing event briefs, project plans, schedules, risk assessments, and health and safety plans. • Managing event budgets, costings, contracts, and post-event evaluation and reporting. • Coordinating venues, catering, AV, security, staffing, suppliers, and logistics. • Leading on-site delivery, troubleshooting issues and ensuring an excellent attendee experience. • Collaborating with Marketing and Communications teams on event promotion and communications. • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers. • Ensuring events reflect tikanga, kawa, and manaakitanga where appropriate. Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako We are looking for an experienced event professional with: • Suitable professional experience delivering end-to-end events • Proven experience delivering large-scale, high-profile, or complex events • Strong organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills • Confidence managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments • Experience managing budgets and tracking expenditure • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach Experience delivering conferences or large hospitality events will be highly regarded. Further details/Pūroko This is a permanent part time (18.75) position, based in Wellington. Given the nature of events, a flexible approach to working hours is necessary, as events often occur on evenings and weekends. Travel for domestic events will be required. You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position. The appointment range for this role is $75,631 to $80,503, Top of Range $88,750 (pro rata).
