Why this role matter
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role:
In this vital role, you will provide place-based and outreach case management to women, and women with children, who are experiencing or have experienced family violence. You’ll play a key role in delivering early intervention, crisis response, and long-term recovery planning—ensuring each woman’s voice is heard and each child’s wellbeing is nurtured.
Working within a feminist, trauma-informed framework, you will support service users with dignity, empathy, and a strong focus on empowerment.
This is a casual role based in Southern Tasmania. Salary is in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.

How you will make an impact:

• Conducting risk assessments using an approved tool and completing on-going assessments and risk and planning for safety
• Building trust-based relationships that promote self-determination and safety
• Delivering tailored case management and holistic support services in line with the Model of Care
• Developing collaborative case plans led by the goals of the participant
• Advocating strongly on behalf of clients to access housing, legal, health, and community services
• Regularly reviewing progress and adapting plans to changing needs
• Maintaining accurate records and client data in accordance with best practice
• Identifying risks and gaps and working with the Team Leader on continuous improvement
• Participating in an on-call roster as required

What you will bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
• Experience in family violence or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
• Working With Vulnerable People Card (TAS)
• Current Tasmanian Drivers Licence
• Strong case management experience and knowledge of trauma-informed practice
• Ability to work independently while staying connected to a supportive team
• Excellent communication, organisation, and advocacy skills
• Commitment to feminist principles and a deep understanding of the gendered nature of family violence
• Proficiency in client data systems and record-keeping
