SPECIALIST, GENERAL PURCHASING

What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join our Purchasing team in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. This position is hybrid.

What you will be doing:

• Manages spot buy requests/communications (external supplier)
• Work FIFO but also prioritize urgent requests; work with Direct Purchasing buyers to obtain approval or provide pricing when needed.
• Scope includes all YNCA direct material purchased to external suppliers.
• Identifies and drives cost improvement opportunities by looking for redundancies or root causing urgent requests to solve issues at the source.
• Weekly/Monthly/Ad hoc reporting of PO status and progress to provide to leadership

• Identifies efficiency opportunities

• • Work with Finance (controller)
• Work with BU and MP&L/Planners
• Work with Category Buyers
• Initiates and attends meetings with purchasing team as required
• Maintains metrics and BOS for Data Management Team
• Maintains master tracker and all documentation for audit compliance purposes
• Supports special projects as required
• Overall compliance according to all assigned Roles and Responsibilities in Line with current Purchasing standards and Procedures.
• Monitors KPI’s and group metrics
• Create documentation to support special projects

What you will bring to the table:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 2+ years of previous experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or related field
• Travel: up to 5%
• Previous experience in corporate automotive environment or purchasing preferred
• Ability to work in complex project organization and to understand Purchasing and Program goals and tasks in global & local perspective
• Understanding of automotive market (2nd tier suppliers, OEMs, etc.)
• Previous costing tool experience, GPDB, ASL/MPF, Power BI tool preferred
