ESSENTIAL TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS (GENERAL):

All applicants must hold or be willing to complete training in:
PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme)
First Aid & Anaphylaxis Awareness (incl. EpiPen use – Red Cross / St John Ambulance certified)
Child Protection / Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons
Disability Awareness
Dealing with Challenging Behaviour (Positive Handling)
Manual Handling
Health & Safety (incl. incident and accident reporting)

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and highly skilled Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistants to join our transport support team for Brent and Harrow Council. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and vulnerable adults with complex health needs on their daily journeys to and from educational or care settings.
As a Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the comfort, dignity, and safety of service users during transport, while being fully prepared to respond to any medical or behavioural needs that may arise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safely escort and support passengers with complex health needs during transport
Administer emergency medication and assist with seizure or epilepsy management
Provide physical, emotional, and behavioural support in line with specialist training
Report any incidents, accidents, or safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately
Communicate effectively with drivers, families, carers, schools, and transport managers
