Organizational Setting UTF/BRA/089/BRA The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism. Reporting Lines The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme. Technical Focus Develop a risk classification matrix for agrarian conflicts and violence against family farmers and traditional peoples and communities, with a view to guiding the preventive action of the various government agencies with attributions inherent to confronting violence in the countryside. Tasks and Responsibilities • Conduct bibliographic research and data collection; • Prepare technical reports and data spreadsheets with variables and indicators relevant to the triggering factors of violence in agrarian conflicts, in a format to be specified by the Supervision; • Review technical records of meetings of the Department of Mediation and Conciliation of Agrarian Conflicts of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming (DEMCA-MDA) with representatives of organizations or movements reporting situations of violence in agrarian conflicts; • Present interim and results to the designated supervisor or alternate, and provide information and clarifications on consultancy-related matters as requested by DEMCA-MDA • Prepare the Work Plan and the Products as established in this Term of Reference. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING: Minimum Requirements • University Degree in Environmental Sciences, Human Sciences or Applied Social Sciences, according to the CAPES table of areas of knowledge. • Minimum of 08 (eight) years in risk classification methodologies or work with communities of family farmers, peoples and threatened traditional communities • Working knowledge (level C) of English and Portuguese; • National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit FAO Core Competencies • Results Focus • Teamwork • Communication • Building Effective Relationships • Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement Technical/Functional Skills • Experience in popular education methodology or work with social movements in the countryside, forest and/or waters. • Participation in studies on human rights, peasant conflicts, peasant struggles or implementation of public policies for family farming. • Professional experience with human rights, peasant conflicts and peasant struggles.
