Purpose
The Underground Block Cave team is now recruiting for the position of Specialist, Mine Engineering with a competitive base salary between $110,000-147,900 with an additional short-term incentive. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.
The Specialist, Mine Engineering will lead a team of engineers and technicians to deliver high-quality mine planning and execution support for the Red Chris Block Cave Project. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient, safe, and timely development of the mine while fostering a strong, collaborative team environment.

Essential Duties

  • Lead the mine engineering team with a strong safety-first mindset, ensuring high process safety standards and a positive team culture.
  • Deliver rolling short-term mine plans (< 3 months) that align with operational goals.
  • Deliver all mining engineering tasks within a 0-3 month planning horizon. This includes weekly plans, development Plan of Intent (POI), ventilation modelling, operational inventory management.
  • Translate the Life of Mine (LOM) design into detailed, execution-ready plans and ensure successful implementation in daily operations.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Management Operating System (MoS) for short range planning.
  • Provide technical support for underground development, including drill& blast, ventilation planning and operations plans.
  • Mentor and develop mining engineers, fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment.
  • Collaborate with diverse technical functions, operations and external business partners to optimize underground development and drive innovative solutions.

Training& Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in underground mining, with a focus on mine planning and development. Experience in contractor management and mine planning preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Familiarity with Deswik mine planning software is an asset, but strong general mine planning experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience in bulk block caving is a plus, but candidates with underground mining engineering experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Professional Engineer designation in BC or the ability to achieve this
