An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Surrey Downs Community Neurophysiotherapy team. We are seeking a highly experienced Neuro Physiotherapist to develop and consolidate their clinical and leadership skills in a specialist community neuro rehabilitation setting. We are looking for a dynamic, professional and enthusiastic Physio to join our friendly & supportive multi-disciplinary team.
Are currently looking for some experience at band 7 level in a dynamic, supportive team? The role will include working in in-patients, out–patients and the community. We can consider hours on request.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
As an autonomous practitioner, the post holder will undertake a complex clinical workload and be an expert in the advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions, including physical, functional, and environmental factors in in-patient, out-patient, the individuals’ home, and other community settings.
The post holder will clinically manage and supervise physiotherapists, therapy assistants, and students and support other clinical colleagues in the team as required. This will include supporting learning and other development activities.
The post holder will take a lead role in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Neurological pathway within the Community Rehabilitation Team on a day-to-day basis, whilst working closely together with other internal and external stakeholders.
DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide highly specialist Neurophysio services to adults referred to the community service.
- Provide specialist and multi-disciplinary assessment of adults taking into account all necessary factors including premorbid skills and environmental factors.
- Provide differential diagnosis of the neurological impairment, clearly define strengths and needs, identify SMART goals and offer an appropriate therapy program, taking into account the level of understanding, motivation, insight, level of support, and self-management potential.
- Develop and provide Physio training within the department and to other professionals as well as to families/carers and students (to degree level), Physio/rehab assistants, and support workers.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource regarding physical impairments following Neurological injury to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Triage clients are referred to the service so that therapy is given to those identified with the highest risk and need.
- Demonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.
- Ensure that clients and relatives are involved with the planning and implementation of their care plans wherever possible.
- Provide specific goals to be incorporated into a patient’s rehabilitation program.
- Design and implement individual specialist therapy programs and evaluate outcomes.
- Develop effective relationships for information sharing and service development with GPs, social services, and other members of the MDT at the base at Epsom and in community hospitals.
- Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice to measure progress and have informed discharge criteria.
- Undertake research and development activities.
- Work as part of a multi-professional team providing integrated services for adults with acquired neurological disorders.
- Propose changes to services/policies within the Physio department.
- Maintain timely and accurate case notes and provide written reports reflecting specialist knowledge.
- Develop a working knowledge of relevant procedural and national/local drivers that impact community Neuophysio including Vulnerable Adults, NSF for older people, National Stroke Strategy etc.
- Follow the Chartered Society for Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) policies and professional codes of conduct.
- Conduct PDRs within the team for delegated staff.
- Supervise the work of B6 Physiotherapists and therapists and advise and provide feedback about their development.
- Maintain and be responsible for re-ordering stock/equipment needed for the post.
- Ensure that relevant data and information are entered into the recording system and provide statistical information as required.
- Take responsibility for your own CPD by attending in-service training, study days, and MDT meetings and by ensuring membership of appropriate local, and national specialist interest groups.
