Responsible to: Medical Directors
Reports to: Specialist Clinical Nurse Manager
Purpose of Role: The postholder will work as an autonomous practitioner and with members of the multidisciplinary team to promote and deliver an excellent online integrated sexual health service.
You will be a key member of the clinical team within Preventx and will provide the nursing input and leadership to ensure that we deliver safe and effective care programmes for service users. As an experience sexual and reproductive health (SRH)nurse you will provide clinical are for presenting groups of patients including history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care.
You will support out work on service user experience and will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to design care pathways that promote the best clinical and experience outcomes. You will provide expertise and insight into the design of our user portals to promote the best experience for the clinicians who work with Preventx to deliver their services within their communities.
Location: Hybrid – Home based with regular attendance, as necessary, at Preventx HQ, MBP5, Meadowhall Business Park, Carbrook Hall Road, Sheffield S9 2EQ

WHAT WE DO

We empower people to access reliable, trusted remote sexual health services, through our adaptable digital platform, efficient self-sampling and in-house laboratory.
Through SH.UK and our other services, we offer service users sexual health services, including STI testing, treatment and contraception.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING

  • To undertake sexual health promotion in the clinic and community and to develop an maintain close links with local agencies.
  • To participate in education and training programmes for health care professional, new members of staff, medical students, schools, colleges, community-based groups and other professional people requesting teaching on sexual health and relationship issues.
  • Demonstrate a high level of clinical decision-making and an ability to monitor and improve standards of care, working within own scope of professional practice.
  • Provide clinical guidance and specialist advice to the team members interacting with patients and act as a role model for clinical practice.
  • Seek opportunities to establish collaborative working relationships with the relevant primary care and community groups and other stakeholders.

EDUCATION

  • Take responsibility for identifying own learning needs and personal and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain links with education partners (internal and external) to ensure an appropriate learning environment exists for patient facing staff members.
  • Support the development of nurses and health care support workers, teaching and assessing clinical skills and knowledge.

QUALIFICATION

  • Registered Nurse
  • Recognised post registration qualifications relating to family planning/sexual health
  • Proof of continuing education sexual and reproductive health
  • Experience of working to patient group directions
  • SRH Essentials
  • Diploma Faculty Sexual and Reproductive Health Teaching qualification
  • BASHH STIF qualifications
  • NHIVNA qualifications
  • Non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards qualification

AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven post-registration experience in specialty
  • Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Able to demonstrate an awareness of professional

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently provide sexual and reproductive health care (online) to undifferentiated clients using online integrated sexual health clinics (genito-urinary medicine, contraception, termination of pregnancy, sex workers, men who have sex with men and associated outreach services).
  • Provide highly specialised public health assessment & intervention with people at most risk.
  • Provide STI/HIV/unplanned pregnancy/sexual exploitation risk reduction advice and support.
  • Oversee and provide STI management and partner notification.
  • Provision of contraception, PrEP and DoxyPEP online care.
  • Provide clinical leadership to staff within the area, working in close collaboration and co-operation with members of the multi professional team and outside agencies. Play an active role in the management of the clinical area & clinical resources, acting as role model and as an educator.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working with clinical and educational networks.
  • Provide stakeholder training, education coaching and capacity building.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services within the context of a clinical governance framework.
  • Ensure that all activities in the area are carried out within Preventx guidelines.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure effective communication skills/systems with patients and their relatives are supportive and informative with due regard to confidentiality – particularly where there are communication difficulties e.g. language barriers.

  • To ensure record keeping is of high quality and contemporaneous. This includes both clinical and management data and documentation.
  • To be responsible for and demonstrate own personal professional development and maintain up to date clinical skills.
