Dynamic engagement with Simfer partners and stakeholders across functions and geographies Based in Singapore, a global commercial hub for Rio Tinto About the role We are looking for an Ocean Freight Specialist to join Simfer’s newly established Ocean-Going Vessels (OGV) team. This role will support the Manager Freight Strategy & Execution and collaborate closely with various JV partners, internal and external stakeholders in Guinea, Singapore, London, and China to deliver safe, timely and efficient ocean shipping services to Simfer. Reporting to the Manager Freight Strategy & Execution, you will be responsible for: Managing Simfer’s ocean freight supplier contractual performance, OGV nomination process and freight linkages across Simfer value chain. Facilitating and leading as required working group level meetings between Simfer partners focusing on ocean freight cooperation and operational delivery of forecasted shipment schedule. Performing vessel voyage operations and post fixture activities, including freight payment / laytime statement administration, tracking of vessel itineraries and accurate capture of information in relevant databases. Optimising commercial outcomes across Simfer seaborne supply chain in close collaboration with Value Chain Management, Morebaya Port Operations/Transhipment and Asia Marketing/Portside teams. Conducting regular and ad-hoc ocean freight reporting and analysis (freight and demurrage spend, KPIs, compliance and environment), collaborating with internal and external (port agents, digital providers) stakeholders on reporting improvements and automation. Supporting Manager and Simfer leadership in ocean freight projects and initiatives as required, from longer term strategy to a day-to-day execution Coach other Simfer team members on ocean freight commercial and operational matters. About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: Tertiary qualification, preferably in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business/Economics. Experience in commercial / operational aspects of ocean shipping (preferably dry bulk sector). Ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Excellent English language communication skill. Commercial acumen, data analytics and data presentation skills, attention to detail. Independent, curious to learn and able to operate in high-pressure environment and ambiguity.
