The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities and well-equipped diagnostic services. The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan, and is a major component of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Brain and Mind Institute (BMI) is a newly minted entity at the Aga Khan University (AKU), with key hubs in Nairobi (for East Africa) and Karachi (for South and Central Asia). The BMI seeks to build capacity in the domains of mental health and neuroscience. In collaboration with partners, the Institute is advancing research leadership capacity and support service delivery across East Africa and South Asia, and other regions served by the AKU. The Institute supports a hub for scholarship exchange and action on mental health issues, as well as educational, clinical, and community-based programs. BMI’s research focuses on the context of today’s youth in Africa and South Asia, while our programmatic offerings address mental health related and brain health issues, including stigma and resiliency. A significant area of interest is the implementation of science-based programming in hospital and community settings that translate new discoveries into prevention and treatment programs. This is a part-time, grant-funded contractual position. Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: develop a curriculum tailored to the unique roles and responsibilities of each category of healthcare provider develop interactive training modules covering essential topics in elderly care, including geriatric health, chronic disease management, mental health support, palliative care, and communication with elderly patients incorporate various blended learning pedagogies, including a mix of in-person sessions, online learning, interactive modules, and hands-on workshops evaluate and select the most suitable VLE, H5P, and AI tools based on factors that support interactive and personalized learning organize and schedule module exams at appropriate intervals during the training program to assess participants' understanding and skills provide immediate feedback during skill assessments to help participants understand their strengths and areas for improvement ensure that all resources are easily accessible through the eLearning platform and are available in multiple formats to cater to different learning styles provide clear instructions on how to navigate the online learning environment, access course materials, submit assignments, and participate in discussions collaborate with instructors, department heads, and academic coordinators to draft a comprehensive teaching schedule that balances theoretical lectures and practical sessions create a structured mentorship plan tailored to the needs of each healthcare professional, focusing on specific skills and competencies relevant to their roles foster strong working relationships with each stakeholder, understanding their roles, expectations, and contributions to the project design and implement a comprehensive system to track all training sessions, including details such as date, location, trainer, participants, and content covered work closely with project team members, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders for the publication of the project develop a detailed plan outlining the steps for coordinating the needs assessment process, including timelines, roles, and responsibilities determine the key objectives and goals for evaluating research activities, including what aspects of the research will be assessed (e.g., effectiveness, impact, methodology) ensure a clear understanding of the task’s objectives, expected deliverables, and deadlines. Requirements: You should have: an undergraduate degree in health care disciplines or equivalent. However, a Master of Science in Nursing degree, from HEC recognized or reputable university/institution will be preferred at least two years of experience in public health (experience in elderly health care will be desirable) with at least one year of adult teaching experience along with blended learning approach will be preferred ability to demonstrate teaching competence as a professional and serve as an effective role model ability to liaise with other team members & stakeholders good knowledge of teaching leadership and management good teaching skills and knowledge of new teaching methodologies and practices co-authored at least one research paper in a referred journal and published at least one other article strong conceptual and analytical skills strong communication skills, both verbal and written strong interpersonal skills strong conceptual knowledge of adult teaching and ability to integrate theory into practice proficiency in use of computer (MS office) good planning and organizing skills.
