WHO WE ARE:
The Patient Account Specialist duties include but are not limited to; Inquiry Management through phone, email, and online interactions with patients, healthcare teams, sales, and several internal teams. The Patient Account Specialist is responsible for investigating inquiries to determine an appropriate course of action to solve, triage or escalate the inquiry in question. This includes research, utilizing publicly available and company provided resources and systems, conducting thorough patient account review(s), and performing the necessary tasks or actions ensuring a timely and effective first-time resolution. The Patient Account Specialist communicates directly with patients, healthcare teams, sales, and insurance companies as well as collaborating cross-functionally with other Cardiology Healthcare teams to achieve inquiry resolution.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- High diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree or higher OR 2-3 years of healthcare related experience in revenue cycle, with specialized focus around eligibility and benefit verification, authorizations, claims submission and denial management. Cardiology related experience, a plus.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations, guidelines, and standards, including a working knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.
- CPT® and ICD-10 coding experience.
- Third-party payer experience.
- Experience with medical record reviews to identify and ensure medical necessity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software.
- Strong critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communications.
- Excellent customer service skills. The ability to deescalate conflict effectively while maintaining a high-level of professionalism, strongly preferred.
- The ability to manage time and prioritize critical priorities.
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment strongly preferred.
- Detail orientated and ability to multi-task.
