We are looking for a generic B6 Outpatient Respiratory Physiotherapist to work within the Respiratory Centre Physiotherapy team and the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service. The Respiratory centre is an award-winning service which provides a hub for all respiratory outpatients and is staffed by a multiprofessional team covering both local and regional respiratory services.

This post is part of the wider Therapy services department. You will have many opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge through our in-service training. You will be part of a large department of over 290 wte Therapy staff including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support staff, so will have peer support available to you.
We run a 7-day therapy service so weekend working and bank holiday cover, on a roster basis, will be expected as part of your working hours. As a respiratory specialist Physiotherapist you will also be expected to work as part of our emergency on-call service treating both adults and children.
This bespoke Band 6 Physiotherapist post offers an exciting role working across 2 specialist respiratory teams:
1. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team: provide twice weekly exercise and education classes to patients with chronic respiratory disease, including COPD, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease and Asthma, as well as providing advice and support to carers and the wider healthcare community.
2. The Respiratory Centre Team: treat patients with a variety of respiratory conditions including breathing pattern disorders, long Covid, Asthma, COPD and chronic suppurative diseases as well as those with long term ventilation, cough augmentation or respiratory rehabilitation needs. The postholder may be expected to carry out some community visits and will work in close collaboration with the Multiprofessional teams across Respiratory services in UHSFT and the community.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • An individual with experience in managing patients with chronic respiratory illness and ideally with outpatient respiratory physiotherapy experience.
  • Experience educating other professionals, patients, and carers in physiotherapy techniques for chronic respiratory illness is essential.
  • Flexibility to work at weekends within all fields of medicine and be rostered on the Physiotherapy Respiratory On-call and twilight rota, working across the acute wards
    The post holder will be supported by a Band 8b Consultant Physiotherapist, B8a in home ventilation and B7 staff. This post is an opportunity to develop respiratory outpatient skills in supporting patients living with chronic respiratory conditions, as well as gaining experience in managing patients in the regional long term ventilation service.
