We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist, Publicly Reported Data. This position will report into a Supervisor alongside a team of specialists. This team is primarily responsible for verifying the accuracy of CMS 2728 forms, by comparing what our systems recommend for the form to the patient’s medical records history, and making updates as needed. The Specialist, Publicly Reported Data will return a drafted 2728 form in a timely manner. This role will collaborate with internal teammates and clinic teammates (primarily administrative assistants) to ensure DaVita clinics are getting the information they need to submit the 2728 form to CMS in a timely manner.
The Specialist will also be responsible for testing our systems outputs and identifying trends and opportunities for improvement that improve our accuracy or efficiency. Some experience in analysis and technology is helpful but not required. The Medical Records Specialist may also support department teams with similar level roles, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalent job experience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to execute on timelines
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Suite (e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook)
  • Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Problem solver who takes initiative to complete tasks
  • Comfortable learning new systems and computer applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Healthcare education and experiences preferred, ideally with specialization in coding diagnoses and common procedures found in patient records
  • Two years of experience managing health information preferred
  • Analytical skills to identify trends, issues and risks
  • Knowledge of EQRS and CMS-2728 forms
Responsibilities
  • Ensures the quality of medical records by verifying the completeness and accuracy of medical data compared to other data sources
  • Ensures the proper entry of verified medical records into required forms and computer systems
  • Serves as a key contact for clinical teammates regarding medical records verification, including the timely collection of data and distribution of results
  • Uses computer applications to assemble and analyze patient data for the purpose of improving patient care and controlling costs
  • Reviews medical documentation, ensuring compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements
  • Clearly and concisely communicates with clinic teammates (via phone, email, fax and shared systems) to resolve data issues and ensure clinics have what they need to complete their tasks in a timely manner
  • Welcomes feedback, provides appropriate solutions and alternatives, and follows up to ensure timely resolution
  • Identifies trends related to data or process issues and escalates to supervisor
  • Understands and applies HIPAA and manages confidential information and PHI with discretion
  • Serves as a subject matter expert as needed for teammates, with a solid understanding of medical records policies, practices, and regulations related to medical information practices
  • Participates in special projects outside of the day-to-day scope on responsibility; Collaborates with the larger team to effectively drive projects and tasks to completion
