We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated, Band 6 Radiographer to join our Cardiac Catheter Lab team at University Hospital Southampton. This role requires participation in the on-call service. You will follow a comprehensive induction programme to gain full competency as a Cath Lab Radiographer. On successful completion of competencies there may be the opportunity to train in Cardiac MRI.
You will be working in a dynamic Cardiac Catheter Lab environment in a tertiary cardiac centre, with 5 Cath labs and plans for expansion. There is a long-established working relationship with Siemen’s developed through our Managed Equipment Service. You must be innovative, organised, and patient centric. You must have a strong will to learn, with previous experience in either cardiac catheter labs or interventional radiology.
You must be adaptable and able to respond to fast moving and demanding situations. You must be able to collaborate with Radiographers, Radiologists, Cardiologists, Anaesthetists, and the Catheter Lab Multi-Disciplinary Team in order to provide and maintain a high-quality service to all our patients. There is wide ranging number of examinations you will gain experience in, such as interventional coronary angiography including primary angioplasty, TAVI’s, percutaneous valve implantation, valvuloplasty, device implants including complex and leadless devices, electrophysiology cases and ablations, congenital and paediatric cases.

Responsibilities
  • Work unsupervised in all areas of the Cath Lab, including adult and paediatric patients, adhering to IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017.
  • Use both single and bi-plane labs and other imaging modalities such as IVUS and OCT.
  • Participate in the on-call rota as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Always maintain a high standard of imaging and patient care.
  • Work in unison with the cath lab Nurses, cardiac Physiologists, Cardiologists, Anaesthetists, ODPs, Radiology consultants and Radiographer colleagues.
  • Participate in and undertake departmental quality assurance, audits, and research where appropriate.
  • Undertake practical, theoretical, and clinical teaching of new staff including students of all professions and visitors.
