Description:

We are looking for a band 6 member of staff to work in our fantastic Main X-Ray department at Royal Preston Hospital.
You will help provide a 24 hour service in all aspects of plain film imaging. Full flexibility is required as you will be required to work night shifts and weekend shifts as well as day shifts.
The Specialist radiographer is responsible for the planning and allocation of work in the specific area of the department assigned, to ensure the timely delivery of an effective service.
Team work and patient focus are essential in our busy, friendly department.
We are a busy, fast paced department delivering a quality imaging service to inpatients, clinic patients, ED patients and oupatients of Preston and surrounding areas. The directorate is working towards Quality Standards in Imaging Accreditation (QSI2019).
You will monitor and maintain standards of professional practice, supervise more junior staff and deploy staff assuring standards are met. Provide leadership and direction to the team, acting as a role model and patient advocate. Assess, plan and make informed decisions on the required Imaging examinations providing advice and maintaining associated records
The department boasts 3 Samsung DR rooms within the main department, with additional Samsung DR satellite rooms in areas such as ED and fracture clinic. We have 7 DR Samsung mobile machines and 2 DR Philips mobile machines.

Responsibilities:

Communicates with a wide range of patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding.
Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues in a manner consistent with relevant legislation, policies and procedures
Actively try to resolve complaints and issues at a local level
Maintain professional development and ensure training is up to date and promote high standards within the department and Trust.
Adhere strictly to the Trust and Departmental policies with regard to Health and Safety and deal with related issues.
Manage daily workload in the allocated area and assist in service improvements.
Prioritise workload based on knowledge and experience.
Maintain the highest standard of radiographic practise at all times.
