Established in 2008, the University Librarian’s Office is responsible for the overall management and development of libraries and learning resources throughout the University's international campuses. While exercising responsibility over all AKU libraries, the University Librarian works in close collaboration with academic units to develop library and information services that cover their specific needs as well as those of AKU as a global learning community. Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Specialist, Ranking & Communications, University Library. Responsibilities: The Specialist, Ranking and Communications will serve as the primary coordinator for AKU’s Institutional Rankings Steering Committee and related initiatives. This role is responsible for managing all activities related to global and thematic university rankings (including SDG Impact Rankings), ensuring timely data collection, submission, and communication. The position will also lead the development and maintenance of the SDG Hub webpage, coordinate impact storytelling, and act as secretary to the committee, supporting strategic engagement with ranking systems to enhance AKU’s global visibility. Specifically, you will be responsible to: Serve as the focal point for AKU’s Institutional Rankings Steering Committee. Act as secretary to the Committee, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, tracking action items, and maintaining documentation. Analyze and interpret a wide range of data sources, providing recommendations to support the enhancement of AKU’s standing in international rankings. Work with relevant data providers to ensure the accuracy of all external data submissions. Collaborate with AKU’s Communications teams to develop internal and external campaign plans on rankings that align with the University’s brand. Coordinate data collection and submissions for the SDG Impact Rankings and other relevant ranking frameworks. Liaise with departments to gather information on AKU’s SDG-related activities and achievements. Update and manage content and portals for all rankings-related initiatives. Develop, maintain, and manage dashboards for tracking AKU’s performance on SDG indicators. Develop, design, and maintain the SDG Hub webpage, modelled on best practice (e.g., the University of Alberta’s SDG Info Hub). Collaborate with entities, centers, and institutes to produce stories of research and academic impact for the SDG Hub, the AKU website, and other relevant publications or newsletters. Produce SDG- and impact-related content for AKU’s social media channels Research global best practices and benchmarks from other universities on SDG and other impact rankings. Support scoping exercises and SDG mapping activities. Ensure the timely communication of ranking outcomes both internally and externally. Monitor global trends in higher education rankings and prepare briefing notes for senior leadership. Undertake any other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor(s). Requirements: You should have: A minimum of Master’s degree in Communications, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Education, or related field. Certification or training in data analytics or project management is desirable. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in project coordination, communications, or institutional research. Experience in higher education rankings, sustainability reporting, or SDG-related initiatives preferred. An understanding of global university ranking systems and SDG frameworks. Excellent communication and writing skills for impact stories and web content. Proficiency in data management and analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.). Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate across departments. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
