SUMMARY

The Terminal Safety Specialist role is responsible for safety and regulatory compliance matters for terminal operations. This position will support operations and drive corporate safety fundamentals to help ensure the Energy Transfer safety culture and goals are achieved.

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record satisfactory to the company

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE IS COMMENSURATE WITH THE SELECTED JOB LEVEL:

  • The Specialist/Representative level requires a HS Diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of job-related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Senior Representative level requires a BHS Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of job-related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; CSP, ASP, CIH or other degreed professional certification.
  • Ability to perform incident investigations using appropriate techniques and to identify and correct root causes
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate and analyze safety metrics including TRIR, LTIR and SIR
  • Extensive knowledge of the rules and regulations of the various federal and state agencies having jurisdiction over the Energy Transfer Houston Location.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor the Energy Transfer safety programs, policies and procedures to achieve safety goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate and deliver safety training to terminal employees and site specific training to contractors that align with OSHA and Energy Transfer requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct safety field audits to ensure compliance is being achieved in regards to company policy, procedure and government regulatory requirements.
  • Actively support terminal operations related to Critical Safe Work Practices (CSWP) including but not limited to, Defensive Driving, Confined Safety Entry, Energy Isolation, Safe Work Permits, Electrical Safety and Excavation Safety.
  • Support customer safety audits by evaluating and addressing safety concerns or gaps to help develop and maintain long-term customers.
  • Participates in Incident Management System (IMS) investigations, Job Observations and Safety Audits and assists with the resolution and development of countermeasures and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with terminal management and field operations to create a productive and positive flow of safety related information.
  • Assume the role of Alternate - Facility Security Officer/Facility Security Officer.
  • Work closely with Emergency Response as needed.
