As part of developing a modular product, Vestas has divided the design of a wind turbine into modules and sub-modules. Within each module, we have the Senior Functional Leads who are fully responsible for the technical aspects of a complete functional area of the wind turbine. Senior Functional Leads are the strategic and technical leaders that guide the development teams to achieving high-quality solutions within the different functional areas. They also oversee the roadmaps and ensure their functional areas are coordinated with the scope of the entire Vestas turbine software.
The Senior Functional Leads are part of the Technical Management submodule which sits within the Vestas Turbine Control Software organization. The Technical Management submodule works with the overall architecture and software strategy for turbine control, including critical aspects of turbine operation.
This position carries high importance and Impact, as you will be crucial to both development and team guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Masters Degree in Software Engineering, Control Engineering or similar
- At least 7 years of experience in embedded software delivery development
- A physical or data analytical background, which enables you to understand turbine physics easily and process large sets of data efficiently
Responsibilities:
You will report to the module design owner of the Turbine Control Software module as part of the Technical Management team, and will be responsible for:
- Set the high-level direction and guide the Advanced Sensing and Diagnostics (ASD) software team to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions
- Responsible for the involvement of all relevant stakeholders across the entire Value Chain to ensure the delivery of the needed solutions including documentation for the ASD sub-module
- Supporting and providing input to the ASD roadmap
- Overseeing the full life-cycle of the ASD functional area from a Software perspective, including quality, overview of support, service feedback, fleet performance and technical debt
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the technical domains and architecture within the ASD submodule
- Have a clear understanding of the constraints and boundaries of the ASD sub-module to optimize work and maximize reusability across wind turbine platforms
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and development within the team
- Guide, mentor, and develop the ASD team to promote a collaborative and high-performance team culture
