An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Speech & Language Therapist who exemplifies our Trust values to join our Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Department on a fixed term contract. The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust service is responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based service to patients across a range of specialties including acute and specialist medicine, stroke and neurosciences, cancer, surgery and critical care.
The post holder will work as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary teams providing assessment, diagnosis and management to adult acute patients across the range of St Mary’s Hospital medical and surgical specialisms. This post will have a specific remit for patients presenting with communication and swallowing needs on the emergency medical admissions, medicine for elderly and respiratory pathways led by the acute specialist medicine teams.
As a senior SLT, you will also play a key role in participating in the development of the SLT service, including audit and research, and delivering teaching programmes to other professions. They will contribute to the development of junior staff, including clinical supervision and appraisal of junior SLTs.
The post holder may lead a team and be responsible for providing an advanced standard of care to patients at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust, which covers a multi-cultural and diverse population.
The post holder will supervise the work of other more junior staff and support workers.
The post holder will assist the Clinical Lead in contributing to the planning, coordination, development and evaluation of the service. Together with other senior staff, you will act as a resource of specialist advice to the rest of the therapy service and other professions.
