North East NMH are looking for tutors to work in person across universities in the northeast UK.
Fully flexible working pattern – you decide how many hours per week you’d like to work and where you can travel to.

We’re looking for people who are professional, empathetic and flexible with experience of working with DSA funded students in HE environments.
Responsibilities:
Work in a person-centred manner, with sensitivity, empathy and unconditional positive regard, adapting your support to the student’s requirements and communication style.
Manage your own time and workload independently.
Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to confidentiality, data protection and code of conduct requirements.
Support students to overcome any barriers that their conditions are posing to them achieving academic success, whilst highlighting and harnessing their strengths.

The requirements for each role are as follows:
SPECIALIST STUDY SKILLS TUTOR (SS-SPLD)
Educated to degree level
Teaching qualification
Level 5 accredited qualification or postgraduate qualification in SpLDs that confers professional membership of:
PATOSS (full or associate membership)
BDA (full professional membership)
ADSHE (professional membership)
Dyslexia Guild member, associate or fellow membership - (ADG/ ADG/ FE/HE/ MDG/ FDG)
SPECIALIST STUDY SKILLS TUTOR (SS-ASC)
Educated to degree level
Teaching qualification
Experience of working with autistic students and students with ADHD
Qualifications or willingness to complete training in supporting autistic students and students with ADHD in higher education:
NAS Core modules plus National Autistic Society (NAS) one day face to face course in Autism and SPELL in Higher Education. AND National Autistic Society (NAS) Women and girls online training module
OR Autism training provided by the National Association of Disability Practitioners (NADP) ‘Working Effectively with Autistic University Students’.
OR Optimum Student Support training course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies
