Job Description: Position Summary: Technical leadership and execution for assigned suppliers or commodity groups. Duties include, but are not limited to: supplier readiness and execution, supply base qualification and development, material cost improvement and execution, performance tracking and reporting. Primary Responsibilities: Manage supplier readiness and APQP for high-risk suppliers and / or components Lead corporate supplier development activity for Top Focus Suppliers Provide technical assistance and management of critical supply situations – current production resolution Drive supplier Material Cost Reduction (MCR) initiatives Conduct focused supplier training as part of problematic supplier approach with potential third-party involvement Identify, assess, and qualify new regional or technical sources Support supplier consolidation and standardization Qualify and advise purchasing and the program team in source selection Support R & D and Advanced purchasing supplier commodity strategy Provide support to CS plant during cases of supplier complaint escalation May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description Support all assigned new launch activities with supplier APQP deliverables Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical field required. Minimum 5-year work experience in a technical area (ie: Stamping, Electronics, Injection Molding, Die Casting, Machining, Tube Forming, Plating) Comprehensive knowledge of supplier development, quality, and program management procedures Prior experience in automotive supplier development (global focus and international experience a plus) Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications Experience leading successful negotiations Must have initiative, assertiveness and drive and may lead cross functional teams Superior problem-solving skills Experience working effectively as part of a cross functional team Must be an excellent written and verbal communicator, including English Must possess strong leadership skills with a track record of improved performance Communicates difficult concepts within and outside the organization employing negotiation skills to achieve desired results Must be a strategic thinker Must possess a valid passport with the ability to travel freely in North America, South America, European, and Asian regions Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary Work Environment/Work Conditions: Hybrid work Professional Office Environment Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury Position Type: Regular Additional Locations: Additional Information: Remote Status: Hybrid Cooper Standard, headquartered in Northville, Mich.
