About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Support Worker to join our team, providing exceptional care and support to individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience working with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities
  • Current medication administration certification and demonstrated competence
  • Experience with enteral feeding systems (PEG/jejunostomy feeds)
  • Knowledge of medical interventions and procedures relevant to complex care needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications in health and social care (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 preferred) or willingness to work towards these qualifications as part of the role

Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centred support to individuals with PMLD, promoting their independence, dignity, and quality of life
  • Safely administer prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols and maintain accurate medication records
  • Perform PEG and jejunostomy feeding procedures, ensuring proper technique and monitoring for any complications
  • Deliver complex medical interventions as required, following individual care plans and medical guidance
  • Monitor and record vital signs, health observations, and any changes in condition
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care
  • Maintain detailed, accurate documentation and care records
  • Support individuals with personal care needs while respecting privacy and promoting dignity
  • Implement risk assessments and follow safeguarding procedures
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to service users
