Description The Library Technical Services Specialist incorporates learned skills related to acquiring, organizing, and maintaining a variety of library materials, in collaboration with the Catalog Librarian. The specialist also provides customer service to patrons including processing new library cards, check-in & check-out of materials, collection of money for fees and other duties as assigned. Teamwork, communication and personal accountability are essential to the success of this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform library tasks during assigned customer service desk rotations Maintain library shelf materials and keep public areas tidy Assist patrons with standard library services Assist patrons with library computer navigation, troubleshooting library device hardware issues, and introducing digital resources Support staff with opening and closing procedures for both the library branch and outreach vehicles Complete monthly check-in meeting with supervisor Perform data entry tasks in the catalog and patron database Manage material receiving, cataloging and processing Manage inter-library loan requests and fulfillment Support staff with front of house library operations Competency: Adept with computer software navigation, customer service, and attention to detail. Ability to understand and apply both District policies and Colorado library laws. Ability to solve practical problems and respond to routine requests. Requirements Work Environment: Inside support role, with occasional outside assignments. Regular interaction with other staff and the public. Operates phones, computers and office equipment. Hours of Work: Hourly, Non-exempt Full-Time The schedule requires one evening shift per week and one weekend shift per month. Required education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent work experience or completion of apprenticeship. One year of customer service work experience.
