REQ0000942 Specialist Trainer - Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeships (0.6).pdf
Job Summary
If you’re an experienced teacher or assessor looking to help others grow in the profession, this role could be for you. We are seeking an experienced teacher or assessor to join our team as a Specialist Trainer for the Learning and Skills Teacher (Level 5) apprenticeship programme.
This programme is delivered in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and is designed to support new teachers working across the further education and training sector. You will play a key role in helping these apprentice teachers apply their learning to real-life classroom practice, supporting them to reflect, develop, and grow in their professional roles.
You will support a caseload of Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprentices, who may be delivering teaching in a variety of subject areas across the further education and training sector. Your role will focus on helping them develop their teaching practice, apply pedagogical theory in the classroom, and make meaningful progress throughout their apprenticeship. This includes providing one-to-one coaching, observing their teaching, and supporting them with portfolio development and preparation for Gateway and End Point Assessment.
While assessment is part of the role, your primary focus will be on teaching and mentoring. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong teaching experience and a genuine interest in developing others as professionals in the education sector.
As part of a flexible delivery team, your caseload may also include a small number of apprentices on other programmes such as Business Administrator or Customer Service, depending on organisational need.
The role also includes supporting learners to develop their maths and English skills using online learning platforms or supporting referrals to college maths and English teachers.
This role requires you to embody the college’s values: Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, High Expectations, and Responsibility.
You will be required to work 22.2 hours per week on a flexible basis
