YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled Agent or U.S. CPA Designation
  • Based in Calgary as this is an in-office position
  • At least 3 years related experience
  • Proven advanced computer skills: particularly MS Office, Zoom, Teams, CCH Axcess platform and other technology.
  • Strong analytical and math skills.
  • Reasonable typing speed and keyboarding skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Team Player, open minded, and always looking for efficiencies.
  • High standard of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Calgary Downtown in office
Compensation Range: $70,000 - $80,000
The Specialist, US Tax reports to the Managing Partner and you will be working very closely with our team members, clients and U.S Escrow and Title companies. From answering and responding to phone and email inquiries to handling confidential documents, acting as liaison with clients and escrow agents, preparation of FIRPTA Compliance documentation, preparation of U.S. Tax Returns, and maintaining our exceptionally high customer service standards, this position is an integral part of our business. You will manage a client file from beginning to end. Having a high sense of accountability, good judgement and a passion for excellence are some of the hallmarks of this position.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client relationships - handling client communication by email and phone in a timely and professional manner.
  • Preparing U.S. Federal and State Income Tax Returns
  • Analyzing and communicating tax matters, issues, and potential solutions
  • Resolving tax disputes with U.S. Federal and State Tax Agencies on behalf of clients
  • Workflow Management - Managing workflow and sales funnel for on-time completion including follow up with clients, and title/escrow companies.
  • Researching U.S tax laws as it relates to a client file
  • Performing general office duties including assembling mailouts, managing incoming and outgoing mail, filing, scanning, photocopying
  • Managing electronic filing and data entry
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during tax season.
  • Maintaining professional credentials in good standing
  • Other duties as assigned.
