QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diplôme universitaire reconnu en sciences jumelé à plus de 15 ans d’expérience similaire dans une usine de produits pharmaceutiques, ou industrie connexe;
  • Excellente connaissance pratique des BPF canadiennes et américaines ainsi que de l’ICH;
  • Expérience avec diverses formes posologiques;
  • Bilinguisme (français et anglais) oral et écrit - en raison de la nature des documents à lire et à préparer, le bilinguisme en français et en anglais est requis pour ce poste;

    - Connaissance des applications Microsoft.

Reporting directly to the VP, Product Development & Manufacturing Strategy, the Pharmaceutical development & formulation Specialist plays a central role in the research and development of pharmaceutical formulations. The incumbent is responsible for the research, development and optimization of innovative pharmaceutical formulations. He/she designs, plans and validates laboratory trials, participates in technology transfer and in the manufacture of pilot and commercial batches. This specialist actively participates in product improvement and innovation, ultimately contributing to improving people’s health and creating value for healthcare stakeholders. Finally, the incumbent is involved in scaling up newly developed products, creating quality criteria and monitoring formulated products and pilot tests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognized university degree in science combined with over 15 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical plant or related industry;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. GMPs and ICH;
  • Experience with various dosage forms;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) oral and written - due to the nature of the documents to be read and prepared, bilingualism in French and English is required for this position;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research to formulate new drug products and/or improve existing formulations;
  • Research, collect, interpret and organize scientific and business intelligence data for strategic projects related to the improvement or development of new products;
  • Identify mechanisms of absorption through to elimination of active ingredients, in order to design dosage forms and choose appropriate excipients, coordinate and validate laboratory tests;
  • Work with subcontractors to develop and test new manufacturing processes;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of formulations into the drug development process;
  • Contribute to the development of quality controls, and the identification of analyses required to ensure the accuracy and reproducibility of manufacturing processes;
  • Participate in the development of critical parameters required for scale-up (pilot batches to commercial batches). Participate and collaborate in all stages of technology transfer;
  • Draft various protocols, technical and R&D reports;
  • Interpret analytical results to evaluate & identify product and/or process improvements;
  • Participate in the development and selection of new product projects to create a balanced portfolio of products according to their life cycle;
  • In collaboration with various teams, participate in the evaluation of product manufacturing during the due diligence process of potential products for commercial agreements or other partnerships;
  • Actively participate in funding applications for certain research projects;
  • Be called upon to act as a manufacturing resource and intervene to solve manufacturing problems that cause yield and quality to decline on existing products;
  • Participate in establishing approaches for the introduction of new manufacturing processes in the Blainville plant;
  • Perform all other tasks relevant to the mandate.
