COME AND JOIN ONE OF THE UK’S LARGEST INDEPENDENT PROVIDERS IN NEURO AND MENTAL HEALTHCARE. WE PROUDLY EMPLOY OVER 4000+ PEOPLE - NO MATTER WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCE, WE HAVE JOBS FOR EVERYONE.

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join the team at the Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham. The role is based on the Lakeside Ward - Female Acute Psychiatry. The role is full time with some on-call requirement.

Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham supports adults requiring care and treatment for acute mental health conditions across three wards:

  • Lakeside Ward A 10 bed Acute Mental Health service for women.
  • Manor Ward A 10 bed Acute Mental Health service for men.
  • Hope Ward A 12 bed Acute Mental Health service for men.

The service provides high quality intensive treatment in a clinically safe and caring environment.
Our Acute Wards are for patients who need to step down from a PICU setting or who have complex, severe or prolonged mental health issues but do not require a PICU setting. Patients are either admitted formally or voluntarily.

Responsibilities
  • To provide day to day psychiatric and medical management for patients on their respective ward under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • To admit new patients via a full clerking, including full histories, mental state examinations and physical examinations, organising the necessary investigations and following these up to prepare holistic management plans.
  • Presentation of cases in MDT ward rounds and following up the treatment plans.
  • To liaise with referrers, family and other organisations involved in patient care.
  • Participation in clinical and administrative meetings like case discussions and governance meetings is also expected.
  • To participate in first medical on-call rota. Extra days attract further remuneration. The on-call rota is non-residential with expectation that the doctor is able to attend the hospital within 1 hours, when required during on call periods. The hospital also has parallel telephone consultant on-call rota and supervision to support first on call doctors.
