We are delighted to offer this exciting new post that will enable the appointee to gain invaluable experience in working towards becoming a Specialty doctor in paediatrics. This newly created post uniquely allows the post holder to be employed at a Clinical Fellow level for the initial six (depending on their clinical skills, and then as a registrar from second 6 months dependant on their progress). During the first 6 months of training, the post holder will be expected to perform all duties under close supervision on tier 1 rota. They will keep an e-portfolio and be assigned an educational supervisor (ES) who will oversee their progress through regular work-based assessments (WBA) in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
The department currently has 8.6 WTE consultants and we run a Service week model. One of the consultants chooses to contribute to the second on call rota. The tier 1 rota consists of GP trainees, FY2 and FY3 doctors, and standalone trust doctors. The second on call rota comprises of non-training permanent staff grade doctors.
Interested applicants are welcome to contact by telephone or email for more information and discussion. We are confident that these posts will be very attractive to candidates who wish to manage their own learning and work life balance in the context of acute paediatrics. Please feel free to ring us for discussion; we are open to any innovative ideas that will benefit our service.
Please contact Dr Joishy on 03000 841295 for more information.
