University Canada West is seeking continuing faculty who are highly talented, motivated, and qualified professionals, ready for the next level of challenge in their careers to teach at our Vancouver campuses. Faculty members specializing in Leadership (change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications), and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Leadership, Leadership for Advanced Project Management and Leadership for STEM Professionals will teach and develop innovative curriculum that prepares students to lead and manage complex, interdisciplinary teams in both AI-driven projects and STEM-based organizations. The courses will emphasize advanced project management principles tailored to the unique challenges of AI/ML environments and the leadership dynamics within engineering, science, and technology fields.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of project management and leadership in both technical and AI/ML contexts, change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications, a passion for applied learning, and experience leading or managing technical teams in real-world settings. This position requires the ability to teach students how to navigate unpredictable challenges, foster collaboration, and drive innovation in rapidly evolving industries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants for continuing faculty positions in the MBA program should have a related doctoral degree.
We are a teaching-intensive university, so candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, including course preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent and innovative pedagogical practices, and engagement in teaching-related scholarly activities. The ability to teach face to face, and in blended and on-line learning environments is essential.
Our continuing faculty positions include a research component, and we support research by our faculty, especially as it contributes to great teaching and intellectual development. Your application should include research accomplishments to date, and present research areas you might be interested in pursuing in the future.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. or DBA in Leadership, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Technology Management, or a closely related field, with 3-4 years of professional and industry experience in AI/ML or STEM leadership.
  • Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile/Scrum certifications) or AI/ML-related fields (e.g., AI/ML certifications from recognized organizations).
  • Published research in change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications, AI/ML, STEM leadership, or project management, particularly in the context of technical team dynamics and leadership in complex projects.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to AI, project management, STEM education, or leadership development.
  • 3-4 years of experience in project management and leadership within AI/ML or STEM industries, with a proven track record of managing interdisciplinary teams, defining project scope, and driving strategic decisions.
  • Expertise in both traditional project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and AI/ML project management practices.
  • Expertise in leadership theory, team dynamics, change management, negotiation and decision-making in high-tech environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and teach a curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience.

  • Develop and teach across leadership electives (change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications) and two specialized MBA courses: Leadership for Advanced Project Management in AI & ML and Leadership for STEM Professionals.
  • Deliver coursework that emphasizes project scope definition, scheduling, risk and cost management in AI projects.
  • Applied Learning Approach:
  • Utilize case studies, simulations, and team-based exercises to help students address complex challenges in AI-driven projects and STEM leadership.
  • Incorporate professional insights from industry leaders in change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications in AI, ML, and STEM fields to bridge academic theory with real-world applications.
  • Leadership & Team Dynamics:
  • Focus on the development of leadership capabilities required to manage technical professionals and interdisciplinary teams in both AI and STEM industries.
  • Industry Engagement & Collaboration:
  • Establish relationships with AI/ML companies, tech firms, engineering and scientific organizations to integrate industry-relevant content into the curriculum.
  • Bring in industry experts for guest lectures, mentorship opportunities, and real-world case study analysis to give students a practical understanding of leadership in these sectors.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications, AI/ML, STEM leadership, and project management, ensuring the course content is cutting-edge and aligned with current industry practices.
  • Research & Thought Leadership:
  • Engage in research on leadership strategies in technical environments, with a focus on change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications in AI, ML, and STEM industries.
  • Publish and present research findings at academic and industry conferences, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of change management, negotiations, leadership & decision-making, intercultural communications, AI-driven project management and technical leadership.
