Job Description:
Specialized Community Support Worker’s support client’s to develop life skills, create and attain goals, and/or access community resources. The successful candidate will provide individual care and guidance proven to be valuable for the needs of the client’s mental health, and behavioural / environmental challenges through predictable structure, clear expectations, and positive behaviour support.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participates in assessment and implementation of goal setting and program planning such as Individualized Support Plans for persons supported.
- Evaluates individuals’ needs and develops short term and long term plans to meet such needs with the active participation of the individual and their personal networks (both professional and nonprofessional).
- Support individuals to function more independently in their own homes and community.
- Provide support with daily life skills, social skills and /or behaviour management.
- Teach and assist individuals with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and safety skills.
- Facilitates physical, recreational, educational, social and vocational activities.
- Accompanies and/or transports individuals to activities and appointments
- Recognizes, analyzes, and deals with potential emergency situations.
- Administers medication to individuals in accordance with established policies and procedures. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
- Attends to the physical, emotional, and medical needs of the children or youth.
- Ensures that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Contribute to team effectiveness through clear and direct communication and participation in staff meetings.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook (Required)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (Required)
- Clear Social Development Check (will be done in-house)
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (Required)
- NB Class 5 License (Required)
- Must be 19 years of age or older (Required)
- Current NVCI training (asset)
- Food Safe Certification (an asset, not required)

Pay: $18.50-$24.45 per hour
