Position Details Start Date: Immediate upon completion of the recruitment process Location: Remote — must be based in Central or South America Students: Blind, deaf, and deafblind children in Costa Rica Language of Instruction: English Rate: $15 USD per hour Contract Type: Independent Service Provider with The Really Great Teacher Company Format: One-on-one and small group online sessions with adapted and accessible materials Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (C1–C2 or native proficiency in both) Based in Central or South America Bachelor's Degree or higher (Education, Special Education, or related field preferred) Accredited TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification (120 hours or above) Formal qualification or proven experience in Special Needs Education — specifically in visual impairment (TVI), deaf education (TOD), or deafblindness Minimum 1 year of teaching experience, including students with disabilities No criminal record Highly Advantageous Skills (Will Strongly Strengthen Your Application) Sign language proficiency — LSCo (Costa Rican Sign Language) or other national sign language Certified Braille proficiency (Unified English Braille or equivalent national standard) Deafblind communication methods: Tactile ASL, hand-over-hand guidance, object cues Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and adapted curriculum design Post-graduate diploma or specialization in Inclusive or Special Education Familiarity with certifications from CED, CSET/AASEP, IBCCES, or American Board Special Education Technical Requirements: PC: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU @2.40GHz (4 CPUs) or better, 8GB RAM or greater. Internet: Stable fiber connection (20 Mbps upload/download) via LAN cable. Backup Power: UPS with 4-5 hours of battery life (recommended for areas with frequent power interruptions).
