Applications are invited for the position of Specialty Doctor (ST4+ level) in Geriatric Medicine. This is a full-time position of 10 programmed activities, including 1 PA for Supporting Professional Activities. The post holder will not participate in out of hours working.
We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic talented Specialty Doctor with experience in Geriatric Medicine, who can demonstrate excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional skills to work well in a multi-professional team.
The successful candidate will join a well-established geriatrician department and deliver excellent care to Bradford patients both within inpatient and outpatient settings. They will work alongside an enthusiastic team of 13 Consultant Geriatricians, matrons, nurses, ANPs, supported by specialty registrars and FY1/2 doctors.
The elderly care department includes 3 acute wards, 1 frailty ward, 4 community hospitals and a virtual ward. The department treats about 7,000 acute patients per year and has excellent links into other relevant departments, both within the foundation trust and externally. Intermediate care services, including Community Hospitals and Virtual Ward, providing opportunities to develop a more effective interface between acute and community-based services for our older population with a discharge to access model.
The post-holder is managerially accountable to the Clinical Service Unit Clinical Director and professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer.
Ward based working at SpR level in Geriatric Medicine including Acute Admissions, Orthogeriatrics, Surgical liaison and Frailty
Community work including attachments to Intermediate Care Hospitals and Elderly Virtual War
Review of inpatient referrals to Geriatric Medicine
Contribute to departmental Undergraduate Medical Education
Contribute to supervision of FY1/FY2 Doctors – clinical and educational
Contribute to Elderly Medicine outpatient services
