Training This role is an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to acquire knowledge and skills in the fields of acute stroke, stroke rehabilitation and stroke prevention as set out by the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB)2010 Sub-Specialty Stroke Medicine curriculum. Knowledge and skills to contribute towards a comprehensive specialist service for patients with acute stroke Competence in the interpretation of CT, MRI brain imaging including CT angiograms and CT perfusion. Specialist assessment of patients with stroke and facilitate rehabilitation to improve outcome and provide acute and long term support Contribute to a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, coordinated and goal orientated rehabilitation service including Early Supported Discharge Service Knowledge, skills and attitudes to enhance activities and participation, to re-integrate patients with stroke illness within their community, family, social and occupational roles. Opportunity to work in conjunction with clinical psychologist on Stroke Unit.
Understand the components and requirements for a comprehensive stroke service in hospital and community. Competence in the assessment and management of acute stroke including thrombolysis and thrombectomy. Able to undertake an assessment of a patient with suspected TIA Able to offer stroke preventative strategies to individuals according to prognosis and need. Able to understand national and local organisation of the stroke service.
