The post holder will deliver a high standard of care to patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgical or medical treatment. The post holders will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, and implementation and evaluation of the programme of the care. The post holders are required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard of care.
This is a full time fixed term post working predominately at the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle. The appointee will be required to work across Trust sites and undertake some clinic and theatre sessions.
The appointee will contribute to provision of emergency cover at Cumberland Infirmary, with a requirement to cover clinics and theatre/day case surgery lists at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, and West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. It is expected that the appointee will have skills commensurate with middle grade working.
The duties will involve ward management of elective surgery patients, advice on inpatients under the care of other specialties on that site and assessment of emergency admissions/ A&E patients. When on call at CIC the appointee and colleagues on the middle grade rota will provide on-site senior opinion and decision making. A flexible approach to day to day working is essential to ensure appropriate clinical cover.
The appointee will participate in a 1:4 (second on call) rota for on call cover (non-resident).

On-call commitment
Outpatient clinics
Operating sessions
Combined clinics; head & neck oncology, orthognathic, dermatology
Attending patients on the ward and treating them under the supervision of the Consultants
Attending and treating emergency patients under the guidance of the Consultants
Provide cover during periods of holiday, study or sick leave
Clerking of patients and maintaining contact with Dental and Medical Practitioners regarding patients
