Responsibilities We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Infectious Disease Specialty Clinic at Methodist Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who are passionate about patient-centered care and interested in developing expertise in infectious disease management. Whether you have prior infectious disease experience or are eager to expand your clinical knowledge in this specialty, we welcome your application. In this role, you will support patients with complex acute and chronic infections, coordinate care, and serve as a key clinical resource for patients and families. You will collaborate closely with infectious disease physicians and an interdisciplinary healthcare team in a supportive, team-based environment. Patient Assessment & Triage Evaluate incoming patient phone calls to assess symptoms, exposure risks, treatment side effects, and urgency of care needs. Provide telephone triage and guide patients to the appropriate level of care or follow-up. Care Coordination Assist in coordinating care for patients with acute and chronic infectious conditions (e.g., bacteremia, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, complex wound infections). Coordinate outpatient antimicrobial therapy (including IV antibiotics), lab monitoring, imaging, and follow-up appointments. Communicate efficiently with infectious disease providers, pharmacists, infusion services, and other care team members to ensure timely and effective treatment. Patient & Family Education Educate patients and caregivers on infectious diseases, antimicrobial therapies, infection prevention, and home care strategies. Provide education on medication adherence, infusion care, side effect monitoring, and signs/symptoms requiring urgent evaluation. Offer ongoing support and resources tailored to individual patient needs. Clinical Documentation & Follow-Up Accurately document patient assessments, care coordination activities, education, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR). Track patient progress, laboratory results, and treatment outcomes to ensure continuity and quality of care. Qualifications Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in infectious disease, infusion therapy, or specialty care is a plus but not required. Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred #UPC123
