Doctors Direct have an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Registrar (ST4-ST6) to work with us in Psychiatry at our South London & Maudsley NHS trust

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO:

• Conduct specialist psychiatric assessments, including detailed history-taking, Mental State Examination (MSE), and risk assessments.
• Diagnose and manage patients with complex psychiatric conditions, including:
• Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
• Mood disorders (bipolar disorder, major depression)
• Anxiety disorders and OCD
• Personality disorders
• Neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, autism)
• Addiction psychiatry (substance misuse)
• Dementia and cognitive impairment
• Develop and oversee individualised treatment plans, including medication management, psychological interventions, and crisis support.
• Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies, including self-harm, suicide risk, and acute psychosis.
• Apply the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA) when required.
• Work with Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Teams (CRHTT) to reduce inpatient admissions.
