Job Details Job Location: Torrance Clinic - Torrance, CA 90505 Salary Range: $21.00 - $24.00 Hourly Coordinate and schedule all aspects of patient surgeries for ophthalmologists in a multispecialty group practice, including pre-operative testing, insurance verification, obtaining pre-authorizations, and scheduling post-operative visits. In addition, provide administrative support including collecting patient payments, performing insurance verification, scheduling follow-up appointments and/or ancillary testing, obtaining records/authorizations, and performing encounter in patient registration system(s). Key Responsibilities Properly educate the patient on all surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, Lasik, oculoplastics, and glaucoma. Must be able to communicate all options and risks to the patient. Responsible for the education, coordination, care, and conversions for elective procedures, which include Refractive IOLs, LASIK, and other procedures. Explain financing options, financial obligations, and insurance reimbursement benefits to patients. Responsive to patient needs, concerns, and feedback Follows up with patients who have not booked surgery by calling, emailing, or by standard mail while following HIPAA guidelines Act as the contact person for all questions and coordination of care Informs the patient of the next steps of the process before surgery and works with the surgery coordinator to help provide all things needed by the patient Provides physicians and support staff with up-to-date surgery schedule Works collaboratively with the refractive surgery team to ensure optimal patient flow Communicates effectively with the surgeon and the team, and helps with any reporting requested from surgeon or manager Provide excellent service and achieve high patient satisfaction Assist with marketing projects, including recalls and physician outreach Work withthe office manager to coordinate communication, care, and enhance efficiency and high patient satisfaction Sends thank you cards to patients and/or new referring physicians Solicits patient testimonials from select satisfied patients, and encourages them to go online and submit an online review. Traveling to different locations for the assigned physician. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of all products, services, and science related to procedures and eye conditions. Identify lifestyle and personality needs and match them with organization services and solutions Strong follow-up and organization skills Ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics. Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft® Word). Function independently without constant supervision. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Ability to read and legibly write, communicate appropriately and effectively, understand and execute instructions as needed. Qualifications Qualifications 3-5 years minimum of high-level customer service and/or sales experience. Medical experience is a plus. College degree is preferred Ophthalmic certifications are a plus which includes either ABO or COA. Must be able to manage difficult personalities and multiple tasks with care and accuracy.
