JOB ROLE: Specification Technologist
JOB LOCATION: Flaxby, Harrogate
REPORTING TO: Technical Manager
Shepley Spring are the UK’s leading bottled water manufacturer with over 20 years’ experience in production and are proud to remain a family run business to this day.
The company operates in three manufacturing facilities in West Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Lidl, Booker Tesco and Sainsbury through private label and produces the brands Ice Valley® and White Rock® exclusively.

SUMMARY:

The Specification Technologist in our food & beverage manufacturing business is responsible for ensuring the highest standards in Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety practices.
This role focuses on developing and maintaining the raw material and finished product specifications for all products across the business. Managing the various customer and regulatory portals and maintaining compliance with food safety regulations. Promoting a safe workplace for all employees. The support the site technical managers to ensure all information is up to date and to the required standard and all NPD developments are aligned to critical paths.

Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain and update finished product specifications with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage and input data into retailer specification portals, ensuring compliance with individual retailer standards
  • Liaison with internal teams suppliers and customers to ensure all technical documentation is up to date and meets quality standards.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across all specifications and technical information.
  • Provide support during customer and regulatory audits by maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation.
  • Responsible for artwork and packaging approvals for finished products ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Take an active role in the HACCP teams on all sites
  • Support quality-related training for employees to foster a culture of excellence.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate necessary adjustments to processes or practices.
