Description Receive and Open specimen lab packs. Accession/Process and label aliquots specimen(s) (blood, hair, stool, saliva, urine) for Laboratory analysis. Duties/Responsibilities: Accept/Receive all incoming specimens Clinical Paks, bags and boxes from Couriers in Dock Area Assist with separating and sorting Domestic and International specimens · Open individual clinical paks,boxes and specimen containers removing specimens · Matching identifications from TRF's or barcoded samples · Aliquot specimens into required containers · Inventory samples in LIMS · Full Data Entry into Practitioners Portal · Discard specimens in the processing refrigerator and freezer · Attention to detail in all duties and activities. · Troubleshoots potential problem specimens. · Prepare and stabilize specimens In-House for shipment to reference laboratory. · Perform Clerical and administrative tasks making copies of test request forms, filing, and scanning. · Performs all other duties as assigned · Maintains patient confidentiality for all MDX facilities and Clients · Able to comply with all applicable Health Regulations including Federal, State and Local Safety that would align with this job description Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent Basic Communication Skill Professionalism Ability to be at work on time and have flexibility Computer data entry experience is highly recommended. Team Oriented Accelerated knowledge of data entry Previous experience in phlebotomy, two years preferred, not recommended. Familiar with sterilization practices and infection control Advanced knowledge of laboratory accessioning protocol Expanded knowledge of laboratory testing equipment Ability to read and analyze medical forms. Team oriented Education and Experience: High School Diploma and associate degree in biology or the equivalent combination of work experience. Medical terminology is required. Previous experience in phlebotomy, two years preferred, not recommended. Physical Requirements: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs. Repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists, and elbows for operating a computer Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Equipment: Box Knife, Laboratory coat, gloves, face shield/mask, laser printer/scanner Other: Shifts may extend until work is finished; coming in early, or weekend work may be necessary. Management may modify or adjust this position to meet the changes and needs of the MDX
